Airport Overview
Chengdu Tianfu International Airport (TFU) opened in June 2021 as a second major airport for Chengdu, capital of Sichuan Province, located approximately 50 km southeast of the city centre. The airport is designed to eventually handle 90 million passengers per year when fully expanded, making it one of the largest airports in China. Chengdu Shuangliu (CTU) continues to operate as Chengdu's first airport, and the two airports together form one of China's few dual-airport city systems. Sichuan Airlines and several other carriers have transferred key operations to TFU.
Terminals
- Terminal T1: Handles domestic operations primarily for Sichuan Airlines, Chengdu Airlines, and other carriers transferred from Shuangliu.
- Terminal T2: International terminal handling international routes, select domestic operations, and premium carriers. Features dedicated check-in zones and international lounges.
WiFi Availability
Free Wi-Fi is available at Chengdu Tianfu Airport under the network "TFU_Airport_WiFi". Registration with a Chinese mobile number is required through the landing portal. International travellers without a Chinese SIM should purchase one at the airport. As with all mainland China airports, a VPN installed before arrival is required to access Google, WhatsApp, and other Western services blocked by the Great Firewall.
